Lights Beach Carpark offers direct access to the Lookout along a flat path approximately ten meters long. The Lookout offers inspiring views of the Denmark Coast including William Bay National Park (to your right) and the crashing waves on the rocks just off shore.
Both the Bibbulmun Track and the Munda Biddi Trail cross Lights Beach and the Lights Beach Carpark. From the carpark, head east along the sealed path past sand dunes to the most popular beach, and continue along the coast to the Wind Farm on the WOW Wilderness Trail. The Eastern Beach leads down to Princess Pool, a delightful rock pool for swimming, and to the stunning bay. You can walk all the way around the headland. This is a dog friendly beach. The views from the headland down on to the beach are stunning and there is some grass and a park bench to be able to have a picnic lunch. Heading west towards William Bay National Park along another paved walkway along the ridge behind the beach. At the far end of the western path, a staircase will take you onto the sand and into William Bay National Park from the east. Both of these trails are part of the Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi Trail.
There is beach access from the car park, and via both pathways within a few hundred meters.
William Bay National Park covers almost two thousand hectares and has some of the most spectacular coastline including Greens Pool, Elephant Rocks, Elephant Cove, Tower Hill. Taking the Bibbulmun Track from Lights Beach into William Bay is a popular starting point.
Taking the Bibbulmun Track from here leads past Waterfall Beach and Madfish Bay then across the hillsides to the Tower Hill station. From Tower Hill you get views of Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks below. Hiking gear required, this is a long-distance trail.
It is a rocky stretch of coastline showing clearly the power of the frequent large waves coming ashore. A restful and impressive place to meditate and satu attuned to nature. Always be careful when near the ocean and stay present to children. Children really do love this beach and all the different things you can do there! We enjoy visiting Lights beach. The car parking is sufficient, and the trails up and down the coast are pleasant.
Lights Beach is located south-west of Denmark along Lights Road which is accessible from the South Coast Highway and Ocean Beach Road. See the map of Denmark and surrounds to get your bearings.
